I imagine this was taken from a video you watch in like 7th grade health class. Its gotta be like an hour long, and is just bums rambling and the narrator interpreting their gibberish and telling you how to stay alive and healthy when in the presence of bums.
The community as a whole, therefore, comes to a consensus regarding a particular site's value, and it therefore stands to reason that, when it comes to each person's turn, they should weigh the previous votes, and vote in so much as to tip the scale toward their perceived worth of said site.
in a pure, direct democracy, that method would not only be preferred, but necessary in order to maintain... order. But the governance of YTMND voting is not truly a pure democracy. Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinion on a site, true, but the lynchpin lies in the fact that we do not vote whether a site is "Good" or "Bad." There is a spectrum for the ratings, which, unlike having only 2 choices, doesn't lend itself to a majority-wins scenario.
if every sprinkle - out of the hundreds on each donut - thought that it was the only little sugary bit of flavour, and acted accordingly, would not the world's pastries be sickenly sweet?
the intrinsic fault in a voting system such as the one present on YTMND is that it gives rise to two conflicting voting styles. The people who vote as if they are the only one doing so, and will therefore give a site exactly the number of stars they think it deserves, and the people who vote knowing they are one among many, and give a site an extreme vote in order to steer the overall rating in the direction of what they believe it actually deserves.
I play WoW and I hate this site. I hate it because the image is sh*tty, and the sound just makes it seem like WoW is played exclusively by fat nerds who need to come up with stupid 'chants' to remind morons to not move during flame wreath.
you know, i gotta say. this is pretty clever. and i gotta give it props for reaching back to 89 batman. Granted I like dark knight better. i still feel this deserves a five.
