I interpreted this a little differently. I saw the light as Ignorance, and the man as Enlightenment. He looks like a wise old black man, like Morgan Freeman, who played God in Bruce Almighty (which fit so perfectly).

But to all of you, why in hell would you want to know what created the universe or even us, when it was so goddamn long ago and we're going to die soon enough? honestly, anything having to do with how we or the universe started or will end always will end up to be completely redundant and useless.
