I also mostly agree with you about the sorts of things that make it to Up and Coming these days. Though I do want to point out that there is at least one noteworthy exception I can think of within the past 3 months. I apologize for bragging, but I released a site in late November which I feel can stand toe to toe against many of the classics which made YTMND famous. Though probably not among the VERY best of them, though. In fact, when it was released on Thanksgiving, it literally had 30 people vote 5 on it in a row. After many more votes, it still maintains a rating of 4.61. This is not to say that high ratings are everything.
I will let you judge for yourself:

Oh, and I was so stoked to hear a Suzanne reference in this YTMND site, and I so get a good laugh when I hear the name Leonard Cohen, then see Goatse.
I used to spam comments in this site back in 2015, now I see why I got low comment ratings since I'm now more selective about my comments since I've come back, and I'm finally clean from alt abuse.
