Speaking of other politicians, I simply couldn't resist screenshotting this: http://www.johnshaw.org/crist.jpg

Shouldn't you be Libertarian? Why do you affiliate with the party who is the staunchest against what your main issue is?

It's tough to explain. I'd basically like to give the term "Republican" its original meaning back. We were founded as a Republic, and the party has hijacked the name for too long now. Call me Libertarian, Republican, Independent - I don't really care. I just want to change things. I wish people would stop concentrating on the labels and concentrate more on the candidates and their values. Those who vote down party lines this November might have a crude awakening when they find out who they voted for.

Also, this article I wrote might help explain further: http://www.johnshaw.orgfederally_democratic_republic.htm

I'm assuming your state legislature has caucuses. Party affiliation is everything in that case.

We do, yes, but I'm not trying to get a specific party to rally behind me - even though I'm registered "Republican." Many people have suggested, then, that I run as an independent as I did last election, but independents frankly just do not win legislative elections, or at least never have in the state of Florida. Florida is a Republican state, but most folks don't know that Tallahassee is mostly a Democratic region, which makes me believe that I can somehow reach a balance in the end. I have already received a fair amount of support from Republicans and Democrats alike. Once people are aware of my objectives, most of the time they seem to understand, and offer their support, and ignore the party label - which is one of my primary goals.

Either this dude has some serious brass ones for attempting to approach the YTMND community in this fashion, or the candidate above has just been seriously punked.

trucking lobbyists are wanting to change the 80,000 pound limit for 5 axle truck-tractor/semi trailers to 88,000 pounds by giving vehicles an extra 10%, messing up the roadways. state employees are also looking at a pay cut. what would you do about it?
June 4th, 2010

Why are the trucking lobbyists desiring the limit-increase? Because they are trying to cut fuel costs. If the trucks were maybe run on a clean, efficient bio-fuel made from hemp, perhaps this question would not need to be posited. We need to get off of oil. As for the state employees and pay cuts, this is an economy issue that I have already attempted to answer with my platform itself. We need to legalize and start growing hemp prior to attempting to solve any other of our economic issues. I'm not saying all of the issues will go away, but finding solutions would come much easier to us with the help of new industries and potentials stemming from this cash crop. I don't think reducing the salaries of state employees is necessary, but we're going to have to make some big changes, first. I hope this answers your questions - but if not, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to explain more.

Interesting fact: The U.S. Constitution was written on hemp paper.

It's strange I even know that, because I'm Canadian.

That having been said, best of luck to you and your hemp reform.

I only vote for those that understand that representative government is broken, far worse than your predictable advertisement lame site here, if you are willing to step into the future and have Constitutional Direct Democracy. You might be worth thinking about. You ever wonder why CA gets to vote on medical marijuana and gay marriage, but not you. It's because CA like 23 other states, has Constitutional Direct Democracy. A few visionaries understand that the US will have this federally as well. Learn more at: vote.org

First off, how was this site predictable in any way? Unless of course you were previously aware of my 2008 campaign, which I highly doubt seeing as how you registered in April of 2010. It sounds like you are just angry in general at the idea of anyone attempting to change things in politics.

Second, direct democracy is a terrible idea - and yes, I've done the research. Except, the research I've done hasn't been sourced from ridiculous joke sites such as "www.vote.org". "The Founders would agree!" -- wow, give me a break. Anyone who thinks the founding fathers would have agreed that direct democracy is a good idea clearly has a very poor understanding of how our country was founded.

i don't care if marijuana gets fully legal, but could you at least amend Florida State Statutes to have all marijuana cases misdemeanor arrests? it's not worth ruining some kid's life for having more than 20 grams.
