i was recently in windsor a couple weeks back, then proceeded to do the most canadian things i could think of to blend in with the locals so then didn't think i was an outsider. i bought milk in a bag. i visited a canadian tire. i ate at a tim hortons. also ate at tunnel bbq for lunch, then smuggled some of their sauce back into my country.
I haven't lived in Windsor for over half a year. But here are some general comments to your superficial sampling of Canadian culture: Milk in a bag is a fantastic way shop for a family; Canadian Tire is a pretty useful store that blends home depot, a sporting good store, and an auto-mechanic in more credible way than Walmart does; Tim Horton's is not for eating; and TBBQ is mediocre.

the real reason for the trip was my friend wanted to smoke a cuban cigar again, since he had a taste in australia and wanted to live it up again.
the milk in a bag: my friend didn't believe me that milk was actually sold in bags in canada, and when i proved him wrong he laughed, and when the cashier actually asked if i wanted it put in a plastic bag he completely lost it and started crying(since it was already being sold "in a bag").
i didn't end up buying anything at canadian tire, but yes it was interesting to see how it was laid out. we actually ran into a korean couple debating on purchasing some fishing gear, and that sadly was the highlight of being in the store. *bonus points* a woman did call me sir and asked me which side of one of her tail lights were out on her pontiac grand prix in the parking lot on the way out. (blended in real well)
we also have tim horton's here in the states too, the thrill was just ordering from a famous canadian brand store in canada. i had a doughnut, and my friend has some coffee.
i enjoyed tunnel bbq, i think i had a brisket sandwich. i did purchase their bbq sauce, as it was my only souvenier which i brought across the border home. we actually wanted to go to don cherry's steak house, but the windsor one was closed down, and the next closest one was sarnia. and no one wants to go to sarnia.
