I'm going to take a crack at making the actual background image of the structure that will house these rooms. If any "artists" out there would like to take a crack at this let me know - the image should fit on a standard screen so no bigger than 12X9 I'd say. Should be a cross-section of an insane asylum with every imaginable detail but focusing on clearly displaying around 12 - 16 200X200 gifs inside it. Sounds really easy right?
I don't know if this can be done but.. let me at least fill you in on the idea. Instead of trying to fit each room on the screen at once, why don't you make it a scrolling gif like maybe an asylum worker going by a series of rooms each with their unique image, and then it repeats... I'm not sure if that will save you any gif size though.
