If it wasn't for the elections, gas would be $5.24 a gallon.

Dude, when you deal with a cartel, all the rules go out the window. Right now Saudi Arabia is cheating on O.P.E.C., and we are reaping the reward.

Simpleton who has no idea of global economics or geographical politics. I don't expect anyone here to understand why we're all screwed if gas prices continue to drop seeing as everyone's so polarized to think it's a good thing and 'taking resources out of the hands of the middle east" is what it amounts to.

http://www.rgemonitor.com/blog/roubini/151241/ Read this to gain some insight to what I'm saying. Sure, we all like lower gas prices...but ask yourself why it's all of a sudden as low as it is.

^^^^ A big reason for the drop is that the hedge funds pulled the money suddenly out on July 7, 2008. It's been falling back to it's true value ever since. Will we really return to under $2.00 for the long haul? Probably not. But will return to $4.17? Probably not for a long time ... unless another hedge fund wants to play the same game next summer! What we need is stricter regulation of the NYMEX commodities market.

^^^^ "Will we really return to under $2.00 for the long haul? Probably not" The point I was trying to make. It wouldn't be a good sign economically if it did. Everyone else just want's it cheap cheap cheap without thinking of the consequences of it.

I'm Sportacus and I'm too apathetic to care if the global economy tanks and too dumb to realize the warning signs because as long as it doesn't directly affect me, I'm able to sit here with my finger up my ass.

Try living in the negatives, I do it every winter. I still wear shorts when it's in the fifties. Heck, even the forties...and on rare occasions... the thirties

Lower oil prices = Hugo Chavez not having so much money to buy popularity with. Predictably, he's distracting his people from their economic problems by telling them to batten down the hatches for an invasion by US forces. Oh, and nipples.

I remember when I was a kid and the gas cost around $.89 and my mother would complain whenever it went up to $.95..... memories.

The lowest I remember is $.84, but that's probably when I actually began to pay attention to the prices.

You notice just a few weeks before Bushy boy gets out of office gas prices start dropping... I smell a cover up! :D

I don't understand why you people don't realize that oil prices are going down because the global economy is reaching a recession. I guess it's easier to just blame someone you hate for everything.

WAIT! That's why Chrysler kept making that sh*tty offer, because they knew Goldman Sachs was going bankrupt. It makes so much sense now!
