How I pirated music in 1996
step by step instructions of how you can also pirate music. I changed the title just so there is less ambiguity to the time period I am referring to.

We just have to make sure the russians don't find out.. Georgia will thank us.
August 28th, 2008
(1)
We in Russia knew the secret from the beginning. We also made COPIES from other cassettes (wow, you must've never guessed it was possible) and that was real pirating. We even managed to make copies without dual cassette players, with 2(!) single cassette players and an earphone.

that's about right. I always had to use both record AND play. Here's a tip: Use the pause button, for seamless song to song transitioning in ur mix.

it sucked back then. you had to have "friends" in RL... not just 'buddies' like nowadays.

Man, this brought back some good memories of when I used to do this. I used to do most of the tricks mentioned so far in these comments too. I remember not wanting to switch over to cd's for the longest time because they sounded a little TOO good, like it felt lifeless in a way. The fun of capturing songs live on the radio as they played was something that couldn't be replaced either.
August 29th, 2008

I used to record movie soundtracks by fast-forwarding my VHS tapes to the end credits. Then I would stick my radio right next to my tv speakers & hit record. The sound quality was sh*t but I didn't care. The thing that makes this really pitiful is that my VHS collection was made up of copied rentals from Major Video . My mom was too cheap to buy me real copies (She only got me things I didn't care about like food & clothes). I've still got a tape with the Ghostbusters, Goonies, & Gremlins themes.

I did the exact same thing with Disorderlies and Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Also R.I.P. Sho' Nuff.

Here's an equally awesome secret: If you can get on top of the brick wall that lines the top of World 1-2 in Super Mario Bros., run along it to the end of the level and you can warp to another world! SSSH! It's a secret to everyone!
August 29th, 2008

If you can break a hole in the wall from underneath, then align the middle of your body with that wall and keep moving right, it takes you to a secret, apparently forever, under water world.

The only way I was able to pirate music when I was 10 was taking a sewing pin and scratching a vinyl record! It sounded horrible but it was music! Kids these days and their cassettes! Bah!
August 29th, 2008

All getting some piece of commercial or DJ talking at the ends then it gets burned into your brain as part of the song.
August 29th, 2008

August 29th, 2008

Remember how back in the 90's we would talk about how horrible and primitive 8-tracks must have been? Just think, kids now will look back at our cassette tapes and think the same thing. lol, f*ck, we getting old.
August 29th, 2008

I used to make video game soundtracks by putting my TalkBoy up to my T.V.'s speaker. My earliest one was of the Street Fighter 2 soundtrack. :D
