This is not a one-issue campaign, this is a one-solution campaign. I don't know how many times I have to reiterate that. This solution tackles most of our major issues at hand.

I read about what you said about the past and present of drug usage in Florida and how it is continuing to fail. I agree, it is because of people's desire and it seems that people that are high drug users are only increasing their priorities towards drugs even if the type of crime they will suffer increases (Such as going from XXX drug crime gets you 3 years to now it will get you 15 years, people still will decide to drugs).

First off, thank you so much for considering making such a large donation. Second, you're absolutely right. Regardless of legality, many people will still continue to do these drugs, and will stop at nothing in order to acquire them.

Using drugs to appeal to those who are politically educated is not a good way to get votes. The legalization of marijuana is the least of this countries concerns. Yes the legalization of marijuana creates more taxes that the government can *ss rape us on. But really focus your campaign on the economy and alternative fuel sources.

Economy: the money we save fighting an unending drug war and by taxing not just marijuana, but all illicit substances, could most likely fund an entire federal health care system. Alternative fuel source: hemp.

"Even if you are running a single-solution campaign (vs. a single-issue campaign), you still have to expect that your potential supporters are not themselves single-solution voters." Then I can't really argue with you anymore. I'm sorry I don't meet your expectations, and I'm sorry I'm not "perfect" in every way. It's so very frustrating doing this campaign, because people think that if I'm going to do it, I have to be absolutely solidly in their favor, or else they're going to play devil's advocate.

Unconstitutional income tax? Ever hear of the 16th Amendment? (Although I do think that amendment should be repealed.) That being said, I agree with ending the War on Drugs, so I gave you a 3.

As for the first two issues, I'm not quite as versed in those topics, and am not afraid to say so. I think we should investigate our other options on energy uses as quickly as possible. As for gun control, it is my duty as a politician to uphold the constitution. The 2nd amendment guarentees us the right to bear arms. Abortion is a punishment in itself to the mother; no reason to punish her again for choosing to go through with something so terrible. We wont need state-backed welfare after I'm done. And...

IMMIGRATION (why you capitalized it, I have no idea), IS A NATIONAL issue, not a STATE issue, and therefore is better left out of my hands. I have said that before and someone on here said that I was ignoring the issue. No, I'm not ignoring it, it's simply out of my jurisdiction.

Also, please understand that I'm trying as hard as I can. I seem to only get nay-say from people like you. "You're not trying hard enough, John. You're IGNORING things." This is usually followed by something rude and irrelevent, such as ^. You apparently don't understand how difficult a task this really is. I'm trying to research these issues as fast and as hard as I can. Also, I would have run 2 years from now, but this district was term-limited out, so there's no incumbent, which gives me a better shot.

"If you're going to ignore all issues except for ONE you might as well become a lobbyist." This is not a one-issue platform, this is a one-solution platform. Most people for some reason can't differentiate between the two.

Drug use/legalization is a NATIONAL issue that affect states. Immigration is also a NATIONAL issue that affects states. As of 2006, Florida was home to the 3rd largest number of illegal immigrants (only Texas and California were estimated to have more). Did you know that between January and March of this year that FLORIDA state lawmakers have proposed nearly a dozen bills targeting illegal immigration?
June 9th, 2008
(-1)
All it seems you're saying is "Legalize drugs and all our problems are solved." How do you stand on health care? Minimum wage? The environment? Floridians should know your current view on these issue (as well as YTMND donors). Don't attack me for bringing these things up. Your website only lists 3 issues on which you take a stand: Drug Policy, Crime, and the Economy. Your solution to all three is to legalize drugs. And you haven't added any new issues to your website since you announced your campaign.
June 9th, 2008
(5)
Also, how do you feel about the state congress funding an official Florida Bobsled Team?
June 9th, 2008
(-1)
"Drug use/legalization is a NATIONAL issue that affect states." Drug use/legalization is a GLOBAL issue. This is the best I can do to tackle it at my age. "Floridians should know your current view on these issue (as well as YTMND donors)." Once again, my stance on those issues are as follows: Health care: The end of the drug war could fund an entire federal health care system. Minimum wage could rise due to the economical freedom after the drug war is ended. The environment? Talk to Big Bend.
June 9th, 2008
(-1)
""Legalize drugs and all our problems are solved." Not all of them, of course not - but major ones, yes. This wont directly solve social issues, such as gay marriage, abortion, that sort of thing. But I think if it goes through it will open a door to "personal freedom," which is what most social issues are about, and as the man heard in the audio on this site claims. "This isn't a war on drugs, this is a war on personal freedom."
June 9th, 2008
(-1)
The bottom line is, if you are in my District, you don't have to vote for me. You can vote for the other guys. I'm not going to conform to hive-minded politics (or, that's the game in politics and I refuse to play it) in order to get your vote. I'd rather have your vote for the issues I am standing for, not for having a list of every single issue known to man, and my beliefs within them. That's ridiculous to me.
June 9th, 2008
(0)
It doesn't matter what issues you believe in only what issues the 9th district believes in. It's your job to represent them in the State House. If the 9th district doesn't want drug legalization then for on thing you won't be elected but also you shouldn't bring that issue to the state house. Your platform should be "whatever you guys want" or also "whatever I can do to help the district". You should be getting funding for schools and fixing roads and getting funding for other things for your district.
June 9th, 2008
(-1)
You couldn't have said it better, and I actually told this to someone last week, almost verbatim. If the people of this district don't want this sort of solution, I'm not going to selfishly continue with it, because then it wont be only supporting me and a minority of others, and that is innappropriate. You have my word on that.

If you're only hoping to make a difference regarding this one issue, get people talking, etc., go for it. If this is your first step in becoming a career politician, however, you need to toughen the f*ck up. If you're getting this defensive over policy-based questions that people are asking you out of genuine curiousity, how are you going to handle it when opponents start digging up dirt(there's probably plenty right here on ytmnd), and try making a fool out of you in front of the world?
June 11th, 2008
(-2)
The difference is this is YTMND. I've been here for 3 years now, and I know this crowd. If you are my constituency, or my opponent, it would be a completely different ball game; and for you to judge any sort of comparison is rather naive. Believe me when I tell you, it is DIFFICULT to answer policy-based questions that people are asking out of genuine curiosity, because I can't tell the difference between curiosity-based, or...well, the other kind.
