Legends of Jazz- #9: John Coltrane (Not Funny)
In San Francisco, there is a church whose patron saint is John Coltrane. I guess that's no weirder than some of the stuff Mormons believe in. This site was not intended to be funny. For educational purposes only.

Actually I would argue his most innovative music was the period with the quartet before 1964 (before he had cancer). His later work was not really fully formed. (other people were doing free jazz better) see: Archie Shep, Eric Dolphy, etc.

Hey, Downbeat Magazine said Ascension was "The most emotional sound ever recorded in human history". Their words, not mine. But my favorite album is Live From Birdland.
