Finger 1: Why did the limit approach x? Finger 2: I dunno! Finger 1: <fellates Finger 2>

Isn't it 0/0?
February 21st, 2008
(0)
no. If you don't believe it, plug in 0.0000001 for x. You get a number really close to 8.
February 21st, 2008

0/0 doesn't exist. A limit is the value of a function as it approaches x, not the value when it equals x. So in the case of this function, there will be a gap at the point (0,8). I think. I'm in my first year of calculus and I bombed most of precalc.
