"it is illegal for someone who has legally purchased a CD to transfer that music into their computer." A quote from the RIAA. IS THIS BULLSH*T OR WHAT!?

Take this to reddit.com. I didn't come here to read the f*cking news whilst being distracted by music I've heard too many times.

Actually, the story is bullsh*t. What they're not telling you is that he didn't just copy the music to his computer, he copied it into his Kazaa shared folder so that everyone on the internet could download the music. That's how the RIAA found him and why he got sued.

Yes, however, it hasn’t been said whether or not those files where widely available, or if any were downloaded. However, the RIAA is still maintaining that rips of CDs are still considered “unauthorized” and it seems that the RIAA wants to tack on that idea to the pending lawsuit to get the judge to formally rule on the matter. So while the ripping of legally acquired CDs isn’t the focal point of the latest lawsuit, it will be an important issue.
