funny, the song you chose being called 'uptown', while Harlem literally is 'uptown'. You know, I think I saw this exact store. Madness.

Trust cultural erosion...For The Rest Of Your Life(TM).
October 28th, 2007
(2)
Its not exactly cultural erosion. the thing about new york, and what makes it great, is that the "hip" cultural area rotates around the island. Harlem had its day and it will have its day again.

October 27th, 2007

i would make an effort to have the image feel more stationary, like have the doors in the same place in every frame, it jumps around too much like this

Yeah, finally. Someone who actually sees the good side of things about this site, rather whine and cry about racism. As for the rest of you, this happens in white neighborhoods too. GET OVER IT.
October 28th, 2007

I think (or at least i hope) the people that are being racist about it are being stupidly sarcastic.

it's interesting to watch the change in the neighborhood, albeit through the window of one store. starting off as quirky, original small business, it degenerates into a cheap convenience store, and you can also watch the grafitti build up throughout the 80's and 90's. finally, it becomes a crass-commercialized national chain. i suppose it's a sign of how the area may be recovering from hard times, but at the same time losing some of its spirit. but then, maybe it's reading to much into just one store..
October 29th, 2007
(0)
It's not reading too much, it's just that hardly anyone really reads at all anymore. Unless of course they were insulted over the internet or something. That or a porn advertisement. Now brb, it said I was the 99999th lucky visitor! Bahamas here I come!
