I tried the Starry Night demo once, and I ended up liking Celestia better. I normally don't shill things (I don't want to sound like another Firefox fan) but Celestia (celestia.sourceforge.net) is free, and great once you figure out ITS interface and shortcut buttons.

said arrow would be a microscopic dot on another microscopic dot within a slightly less than microscopic dot.

we only see what is around us, therefore the known galaxy creates a sphere (or box) of what we have discovered

[]_[]-b Check out http://www.mpa-garching.mpg.de/galform/press/ Remember, it's a simulation, not known data like yours, but it's far far far larger.

i remember this from the chalkboard in third grade
July 15th, 2007

It goes on forever. So technically, right now, since it goes on forever, there is another galaxy called the milky way in which there is a planet earth on which there is a young man typing these very words. Mind = blown.
July 16th, 2007
(0)
I think you left out a sentence or two, because that makes absolutely no sense, not even in the trippy way.

(0)
you should've then gone in to a galaxy and so forth to make it seem more epic
July 16th, 2007
(0)
false
(0)
yeah how can we know this much about the galaxies around us if we can barely see past our own stars because of their brightness?
July 16th, 2007
(0)
yeah its probably completely false but its awesome to look at with that music. so 5
July 16th, 2007
(0)
This is not even taking into account that most of which we can see has died millions or billions of years ago. What is truly out there could be bigger then we could ever comprehend.
July 16th, 2007
(0)
It needs better sound... pick a track from either Delerium's Spheres I or Spheres II
July 16th, 2007

Nice mouse cursor.
July 16th, 2007

What I should of said was, "I can see your cursor from here."
July 16th, 2007

music is kinda too 'uhhhhhhhhhhhh what the hell' instead of cosmically delicious
(0)
Sorry bub, I think outside the box.

There seems to be a divide in the middle, implying that the big bang was a bi-polar explosion.
July 16th, 2007
(0)
oh, wait, it just implies that our view is blocked by the rest of our galaxy
(0)
So does that mean that my dick is always in a box as long as I stay in this universe?
July 16th, 2007
(0)

What's outside the box?
July 16th, 2007
(1)
Clearly a false statement. The universe cannot be in a box, because the universe contains everything by definition; therefore, there can be no box outside it to bound it. ;)
July 17th, 2007
(1)
The universe is vast and grand
