YTMND Toolkit (Free Edition)
I didn't know if this may be helpful to some. I got tired of seeing the nag tags and thought it might help make the site a little cleaner.

I use Flash for movie ripping and gif animation, audacity for regular sound edits, and gimp for regular image edits. Does anyone have something that I can rip audio off of a movie file from? PS: It is green.

This is crap, but informative to noobs and we should be fair to them. When they try, they're great. But then they go and upvote fad comps... I'm breaking ranks and giving this a 5.

Okay, computers know when I'm around so I may need a little guidance. I got Audacity, and I'll need to learn that program but that shouldn't be a problem. However, when I downloaded The Gimp 2, I got a compressed folder with no installation file, so it won't run. WTH?
February 5th, 2007
(0)
I hate to be one of the noobs asking questions in the comments about programs, but what's a good free gif dealy for OSX? I've got Windows on this computer, but I don't want to have to switch over all the time (I only have Photoshop on OSX).
February 5th, 2007

Virtual Dub does that? Now I have to spend hours trying to work out how. :/

People without the slightest clue on how to pirate (or use) the more upscale/decent programs like photoshop and imageready really shouldn't be making YTMNDs at all.
February 5th, 2007

i use mostly animation shop, photoshop, nero wave editor etc. But i would like to know what do pro guys use for video tracking... Like rogerdaltwii.ytmnd.com? Was it made with After Effect?

Some other good free programs: Paint.NET (Like GiMP but easier) http://www.getpaint.net CamStudio (free screen recording software, dump it to a bunch of PNGs and doctor them up!) http://www.camstudio.org/Teragen (makes some NICE terrain backgrounds) http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

Don't forget MSPaint for basic image editing, Rad Video Tools (http://www.radgametools.com/) for movie / sound extraction to image sequences, QuickTime for the same with Flash (limited, but still). If you wanna pay, but not much, I say drop $130 into Paint Shop Pro X and JASC Animation Shop; they are what I use. Also Poland

Ok so some people keep complaining about this YTMND. I really don't care what it is rated since it is just a helpful annoucement for some. I do care how many people see it though and so if it is rated low then nobody will know about these programs and they will continue to use MS Paint to put Bush's face on a hot dog and use the Batman ualuealuealeuale music. If they at least have access to programs like this, I expect the quality of YTMNDs to go up. (Now they will be animated pictures of Bush's face, lol)
February 5th, 2007
(0)
Thank you, that was really helpful!
February 5th, 2007

Photoshop, Goldwave, Wavepad, Imageready (came with Photoshop) Magix Music Maker, standard Windows Text 2 Speech, and, ofcourse, not to forget, some stupid creativity.
February 5th, 2007
(0)
But lol, their not free except for upvoters ;)
February 5th, 2007
(0)
They have this awesome thing called a forum where you can post things like this. This isn't a YTMND.
February 5th, 2007
(0)
I love you ever so much. The only one of these that I use is Audacity, which annoys me with the huge files it outputs, but still. Now I can make some of the sites that I've been thinking of. Marry me.

Too bad there is no way to get Adobe Photoshop and Audition for free right?
February 5th, 2007
(0)
"People without the slightest clue on how to pirate (or use) the more upscale/decent programs like photoshop and imageready really shouldn't be making YTMNDs at all." Exactly
February 5th, 2007
(0)
even though there are a lot less tools, for just making plain ol loops and simple mixes i really do prefer the simple (and free) Wavepad over Audacity. that and the free version of Audacity has repeatedly given me the Blue Screen of Death.
February 5th, 2007
(0)
i also agree with idownvotetheives to an extent. i'd figure anyone who would want to make more elaborate sites would have the drive to find these things out themselves. but if even a few people can pull something from this and make something i like this site is worth making.

This is the "Free Edition" meaning it is really free. (for those who don't want to pirate software) Also I think that there is a lot of creativity bottled up out there waiting to be expressed. I just wanted to give some people the chance to do that. I really think the quality of YTMND will go up if more people have access to the process of creation.
