Ohhh, is that the amusement park from Silent Hill, creepy. Should have used music from Silent Hill, then I would have 5'd. But good job though.
November 3rd, 2006
(2)
Not the amusement park from Silent Hill, it's an abandoned amusement park in Japan.
November 3rd, 2006
(3)
5' gives off a strange, slightly creepy, but nostalgic type mood, quite a rare one.

I remember seeing the website about this theme park. It's actually a place in Japan.

I don't usually like the serious ytmnd's, but most of the serious ones are the ones that make no sense, and this one does, it's pretty cool, 5'd

Quite abandoned. from Chernobyl?
November 3rd, 2006
(2)
"Why is that creepy?" It really isn't. Maybe if it were night time, hellfire everywhere, and a giant ass-raping clowing with a chainsaw were chasing you.

Night of the Comet.

Old Mr. Withers scared them kids away, and he would have gotten away with it too if it werent for that pesky Duvessa.

Uh, eh, n-now, eventually you might have dinosaurs on your, on your dinosaur tour, right?... Hello?... Hello, hello… Yes?

f*ckin sweet, it must be great for the hobos and crack heads that huddle in the old ferris wheel carts for warmth.

Early version of the site used music from Firefly, but was changed to Myst quickly, like a dolt, I forgot to take out the old keywords. Gone now. :)

It's not funny or amusing, just interesting. I couldn't help to think that this would be a perfect setting for some type of horror movie. I was also sad, especially about seeing a decent rollercoaster going to waste.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
very cool. i thought my trip to an abandoned nuclear missle base was impressive. maybe i should make a ytmnd about that...

This is a great find. if there were more sites like this then ytmnd wouldn't be 90% sh*t. nice to see something other than the usual pointless stupid site. you win
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
interesting, but nothing special
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Very, very creepy. Usually an abandoned place like this would be vandalized and destoryed to pieces. Thing is... all of the images show none of that.

Expect your site to be deleted if it lacks humor and includes any of the following: anime, extreme racism, hardcore pornography, anything illegal, pictures of your friends, inside jokes, etc THIS LACKS HUMOR
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
I think it'd be awesome to screw around in an abandoned amusement park.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
That's really creepy for some reason. As someone mentioned, there's no grafiti at all. Is that near the bomb site?
November 3rd, 2006

It's good to see some more YTMND's that appeal to emotions. YTMND is not JUST a humor website.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Why would anyone abandon an amusement park? That's like an abandoned pile of money.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Nicely done, though I recommend checking out the site the images came from: http://home.f01.itscom.net/spiral/t_rando/t_rando1.html I can't wait for someone to riff this with the same MYST music to scenes of an abandoned Rollercoaster Tycoon amusement park!

November 3rd, 2006

Does this mean I don't have to keep my arms and legs inside the ride at all times?
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
GOD. I kept trying to place the music without checking and failed. Myst, I love you. I can see why Silent Hill loves to have themepark areas, though. Man that's creepy.
November 3rd, 2006

5'd for Myst music. These pics really look like something from Myst...

Yeah, apparently there are a lot of sights like this in Japan due to the recession they've been feeling for awhile. It's a sad thing, though it's worth mentioning that the movie Spirited Away kicks off in an abandoned amusement park and a few words of explanation are given. I enjoyed this YTMND, though, the music was a good choice and made it tragic. Not the traditional YTMND I would reserve 5's for, but it evoked a good reaction and that's what good art (which in this case is juxtaposition) does.

Makes me think of the abandoned zoo used as the Penguin's lair in Batman Returns.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
I love creepy pictures of abandoned places like amusement parks and old insane asylums. Don't know why but I like them.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
this needs the sound of distant children laughing for extra weirdness...
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Even moreso, the Coney Island amusement park rendered underwater in the future from "A.I."
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
How could a place of such architectonically genius turn into a place of such sorrow and despair. The metal, and wood of that place yells with great grief, and suffering, yearning for the days long past *Cries lightly*
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
i find myself coming back to this site, I like it a lot.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
that looks like a good setting for a slasher movie to me.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Cool
November 3rd, 2006

Could make a pretty gruesome scene with the swings. Have some bodies hanging from there or something.

I'm diggin the effects from the images+music combo. Interesting site. Can't help but think of Silent Hill.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
i love these pictures! but i think that the music would be better if it were "liquid sphere waltz" or "for whom the bell tolls" both from the donnie darko soundtrack.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
yeah, i'm sorry. i just liked it so much i wanted to see it with the music i suggested. call me impatient. its just so beautiful. heres to people that just don't get it! ::cheers!::

November 3rd, 2006
(0)
Dude seriously that is a great effect. Perfect choice of music.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
I'd f*ck that park.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
To AngryCat, did you ever see Spirited Away? The Father in that movie said that many amusement parks in Japan went bankrupt and were abandoned in the late 80's/early 90's. If you want to see even scarier pictures of parks that are actually open, I saw some Egyptian park where a lot of the rides were incredibly broken down and the go-kart track became a running track. Then at Nara Dreamland, another Japanese park, there's that old rollercoaster they converted into a walkthrough because of budget troubles.
November 3rd, 2006

music reenforces the creepy/melancholic feeling
November 3rd, 2006

What an intriging setting! That looks like a fun place to climb. I thot the music was bland and stale tho, and not eerie or ominous, but I can't think of any alternatives to suggest.
November 3rd, 2006
(0)

The pics arent cary at all, but the music makes me get goosebumps. almost makes me wanna cy at the dismemberment, but its so cool. so many eelings for one YTMND. 4
November 3rd, 2006
(0)
I don't know why everyone finds this creepy. It has a bit of a sad aura to it, but I think that place would be awesome to just hang out at and crawl around. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it was just up and abandoned like that. I would've thought they would've at least tried to sell some of the rides, etc, if for nothing more than the materials that made them. To just leave it like that seems... well, uneconomical.
November 3rd, 2006

Perfect setting for a horror movie.
November 4th, 2006

Rather interesting, though I must say the mirror on the carousel looks pretty damn clean for being so old... Maybe a little cloudy, but the reflection was very clear and there were no dirt or water stains on it.
November 4th, 2006
(0)
bravo Duvessa, you've made a site that's got everyone psycho nuts about this sh*t being haunted like silent hill. way to go, mang!

November 4th, 2006

November 4th, 2006

This would be very creepy at night. Also, with the limited space Japan has, you would think the amusment park would be demolised and something else built in it's place. Like housing or some such.

November 4th, 2006
(0)
I'd also recommend the abandoned meat processing plant( http://home.f01.itscom.net/spiral/niku/niku1.html ), replete with rusty meat hooks hanging from the ceiling. It seems the Japanese specialize in creepy as f*ck abandoned buildings.

"Rather interesting, though I must say the mirror on the carousel looks pretty damn clean for being so old... Maybe a little cloudy, but the reflection was very clear and there were no dirt or water stains on it." thats caused its used at night when the sun goes down.

This is a serious wtf. I mean, even if they went bakrupt, why hasn't this thing been torn down? Or bought back for that matter? Is that in Hiroshima or something?

The Myst series is among my favorite games. Is there a site where I can get that song so I don't have to go digging/P2Ping for it? Also, these images are hauntingly beautiful. This looks like the beginning of a fad I may enjoy.
