Very nice, and excellent choice for the song, both in title and in sound. Also sort-of for one of the movies it was used in.

This is the present, and not the future. The future is as many times more spectacular as this picture would have been to someone in the year 1800. Just 200 years and 95% of this city was made possible, so think of all the spectacular things that will make cities in 200 years.

A 1990s Mad Magazine article noted that people feel nostalgia for more and more recent periods of time. In the 80s, people had nostalgia for the 50s; in the 90s, it could be as recent as the 80s. It was predicted that early in the 21st century, people would feel nostalgia for the exact present moment. YTMND fulfilled this prophecy. THEN.. in 2006, the hype leading up to the release of Snakes on a Plane induced people to feel nostalgia for an event WHICH HAD NOT YET OCCURED!!!

Great picture, great music, horrible point to try to advance. There is no specific time that is "the future". The future is a concept referring to a time that is yet to come. "This is the future" implies an end to history, but things will always change. There is no "end of history". Now, you could argue that we've reached the height of what technology can do - I'm about 75% sure that this isn't the case - but an end to history? For example, considder our oil supply.
October 17th, 2006

This is incorrect. According to my calculations, it has been the future for several months. It is impossible to predict the effect that extended existence within the Future will have upon human society. I mean it.

A man walks down the street, it's a street in a strange world. Maybe it's the Third World. Maybe it's his first time around. He doesn't speak the language, he holds no currency, he is a foreign man, he is surrounded by the sound, the sound, cattle in the marketplace. Scatterlings and orphanages. He looks around, around, he sees angels in the architecture. Spinning in infinity. He says Amen. Hallelujah.

Heh, I called it. Hong Kong. And just think of all the coal that is burned to generate that kind of electricity. I bet you couldn't see one star in that sky. And that pinkish glow, is that natural, or a by-product of the coal burning? :-D

No, it was not anticipation. It was nostalgia. "Good ole' Snakes on a Plane!! Heheh!" But that's not the point.. if you look around you, if you feel in your bones, you know that the present has already occured.
