Nice try China indeed. Their government forces search engines like Google to filter their content. And the companies rather than stand up to them go along with it for the cash and exposure...

@AntwanDavis. The Chinese Google censors all the pictures of the massacre and replaces them with pro-Communist propaganda. Whereas all other Googles show the pictures.

In Germany it is illegal to say that the Hollocaust never happened. I've checked Google germany, and they have the same stuff that the US version has. I have heard that Google China does not allow articles about Taiwan's independance, but I cannot read chinese, so I have no idea if thats true.

Actually, while more dramatic, I think SoDs "Hypnotize", specifically the part about, obviously, Tiennamen square would work well. But then you would get downvoted into oblivion by people who have nothing better to do than downvote sites becaue "OMGZ DAT BAND SUX)RS!"
August 27th, 2006

FYI this isn't the fault of communism. Communism has never been truly implemented because of the insane amount of corruption. In fact, china isn't really communist because they allow capitalism. But yeah, they censor the *ss off of stuff.

Fun fact: google censors american search results, right here in the land of the free. See the bottom of http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=kazaa for an example, though there are several more. CONGRATULATIONS, now you're all slightly less ignorant.

I looked into this one a little more. The text search isn't covered up as well on google.cn, and also if you spell it "tia" instead of "tie" you get a picture of tanks show up on image search. Only one, though.

maybe the Chinese Google shows the real thing, and YOUR Google is censored? think about that.
August 28th, 2006
(0)
hahahahahaha
August 28th, 2006
(0)
I think Google china would probably put more recent pictures of tiennamen square than something that took place many years ago. The pictures of tanks could be on page 2. Then again, they're communist so it HAS to be censorship.
August 28th, 2006
(0)
icn001 - try again, this is the real results from Google China.

August 28th, 2006

I'm sure its not that easy for someone in China to find on government-suppressed information, for instance, Tiannamen Square. Getting around Google China's censoring is one thing, but surpassing government restrictions is exceedingly more difficult. If it was as easy as your gif implies then they wouldn't have much of a problem.
August 29th, 2006

It's funny I guess but only a 3 since I tried it and it doesn't work...

I love how people try to peg the tiennamen square as being the "old comunist conservatives" killing obviously americanphile democratic-capitalist protestors. the fact of the mater is that the people there were pissed off at the fact that they had no democracy, that the market reforms were enourmously corrupt, and that life didnt improve as much as the thought it should. Deng, the biggest capitalist in china, murderd them because to him, they were a reminder of the cultural revolution's anarchy.
December 12th, 2008
(0)
also deng, and his family and associates also got rich from beurocratic capitalism at the expence of workers who are violently subdued. Capitalim in china isnt about freedom or idealism. Deng wasnt an idealist and i love him for that. mao was an idealist, and look at the messes he made. mao was the idealist who would get you killed, Deng was the realist who wanted the hippies on his motherf*cking lawn to get back to work paying for his american car.
December 12th, 2008
(0)
the new capitalist class in china was formend from the corruption of the 80's. the good news is they reinvested it back into their own economy. the capital had to come from somewhere.
December 12th, 2008
(0)
you see deng's experiences during the cultural revolution were not happy ones and to him, large groups of angry people needed to be controled before things got out of hand. he also felt that rampant populism would destory his plans for china's future.
