Commentary: In 1899, Nikola Tesla devised a system by which electricity could be transmitted wirelessly by syphoning energy from the ionosphere, a layer of the atmosphere magnetically charged by solar radiation. This technology enables the free, clean, and efficient dissemination of electricity to every being on this planet. Currently, there are no plans for any industrialized nation to adopt this means of energy creation...

Your historical commentary bores me to tears and has no bearing to the picture. If I wanted a wikipedia entry I'd go to wikipedia. As for the picture, electricity lost its magical nature sometime about 10 years after Franklin first harnessed it. Was I supposed to enjoy any part of this site?

A lot of Tesla's "crazy" ideas have been agreed to be pretty crazy, but the man was amazing anyways.

Okay, that thing if FREAKIN HUGE!!!! I know that there are larger out there, but my friend built one that went up to my knee. That thing is as tall as me! I'm 6'6". Jesus Christ! How many months of your life did you have to use to build that?

BTW, the reason why no nation would do this is because it could possibly kill people. If a metallic object is resonating at the same frequency as the coil, the object would begin to store that charge and could burn you or anything it touches.

BTW, that's a pretty small coil. If you want big, there's some 2 foot tall 2 stage drsstc's. Crazy sh*t.

I love Tesla. He is way too underrated. That hack of a scientist Edison can suck his left nuts. It was Tesla that gave us AC power! GO PLUGS!!! He was also able to make "free energy", which pretty much required u to be close to an eletical object to power it.

That looks nothing like a Van de Graff. A VDG has a spherical torroid, makes static electricity, and isnt that lethal. A tesla coil has a dounut torroid, works on magnetic resonance, and is very, very deadly. And the thing on the bottom is the spark gap causes it to oscillate.

Nice pun with the site title. But..."Currently, there are no plans for any industrialized nation to adopt this means of energy creation..." This is not in any way a method of creating energy. You cannot create energy at all. The Tesla coil requires energy to operate, and just like any other system, it converts energy. I may be getting too in depth...I mean, this is just YTMND, right?...

I find that disbelief in people often originates from blindly believeing in something else. As far as I know Tesla came up with many theorys of energy creation, but in his actions could never quite make it past the law of conservation of energy. Like alot of his plans they were ment to be used by future generations which would then have the power and technology to act on his theorys. All I've seen action was was this lecture a friend sent me. Watch it if you wish for some intelectual stimulation. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5738531568036565057&q

Your spelling is hor... Anyway, nice pairing of image and music, as usual. To be honest though, I drew a lot of my entertainment from reading reactions to this.
