Great moments in Video Game Music. Part 9
There was some debate over this one. I didn't know to do this song or "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms". Suggestions?

This is the main battle them of Final Fantasy IV, it's not in Super Mario RPG.

Obviously you haven't played SMRPG, then.

I haven't played Super Mario RPG in 7 years, but I KNOW this is the battle them of Final Fantasy IV.

Play Super Mario RPG and play against Culex. You'll hear the same exact sound. Obviously you've forgotten that Square helped to make this game and as a result, the music styles are the same.
February 9th, 2006

I know that Square made this game and I remember Culex. Regardless, this the credit for this song really belongs to Final Fantasy IV.
February 9th, 2006
(0)
Right, BUT THIS VERSION IS FROM MARIO RPG! I'm not going to give credit to a game if it's not the exact version it is from. Unless it were something unofficial. But this is official.

Final Fantasy IV had this music first. And it's exactly the same.

There, I've changed the sound origins comment. Jesus why do you people make everything so complicated? I wouldn't take the Invincible theme from Yoshi's Island 2 and accredit Mario Bros. on NES just because it had the same song first.

For you f*cktards, I am a total final fantasy geek, I admit it. This is from both Final Fantasy IV, my favorite game, AND SMRPG. You ONLY hear this song in SMRPG during the special fight against Culex, the hardest boss in the game.

And on #7, Big Blue was better ;)
February 9th, 2006
(0)
Yea, for that one, I was really debating between Big Blue and Mute City. I decided I'd do both, so I'll eventually get back to it.

haha, you're all retards, the music is actually from final fantasy II, not IV! Good stuff though.

I'd like to suggest the Storm Eagle stage from Mega Man X for SNES.
February 9th, 2006
(0)
SteveoDen: Technically right. But wrong. FFII is the SNES American version of FFIV in Japan, which is known as "FFIV Easy" in Japan. On PS1 and GBA it was brought back as "FFIV". The same game.

Shallow, I give you much credit for doing these things... for the most part, you are exactly right (this one especially)

Nobuo Uematsu is a lazy *ss for using this song in multiple games.

What do you guys think? Should I put a picture of FFIV along with this one? I mean, people keep mentioning it so maybe I should.
February 10th, 2006
(0)
Whoa there. This isn't where the song originally came from. It was originally Boss Fight 1 from FF4. Still, I'll give you a 3 for good taste again.
February 10th, 2006
(0)
Man, I remember this. Culex was hard as f*ck to beat! The hardest battle in the game imho.
February 10th, 2006
(0)
OK, 4 because I saw the credit to FF4 just now. Sorry. ^_^;; kenjidan: He was kinda hard, but I was more annoyed with how long the battle took.

Did I miss a boss fight in Super Mario RPG? I beat smithy, maybe I fought culex. I would've remembered this music. If I did that's a real shame.

Actually, I think the instrumentation for this version might be SLIGHTLY different from the one in ff2/4. But yeah. This song rocks, no matter which version.
November 25th, 2006

Actually, llamaman is right. The instrumentation is different. But yes, we all know that it's the same song now. That argument ended months ago.

I can't believe you chose this over the first Smithy battle.

I created a separate game file just to get up to monstro town and pay 500 coins for those stupid fireworks to get that f*cking cookie or whatever from that little mole kid and I went to fight Culex, only I left the TV on and my controller idle as I just jammed to this terrific song. P.S. You were right not to do the forest theme, this one rapes that til it bleeds.
December 6th, 2006
(0)
lol Final Fantasy IV. Super Mario RPG came AFTER IV, and this music has no 'VERSION' of it, it is the same exact song, same exact sound. you get no vote.

December 7th, 2006

"This is wrong f*ckhesad" no it actually isn't, square-enix let nintendo use this theme for this battle. Get to culex and listen to the theme. Besides these retards saying "its ff only not smrph" this brings back memories of always dying alot in that battle lol. great job man
December 8th, 2006

Classic tune, but you should have just quoted/pictured FFIV, no matter how cool it was to hear in SMRPG.

I want to play mario rpg just to hear the music from final fantasy 2
December 12th, 2006
(0)
Yup tis from both games. I remember as I played SMRPG first as a kid and thought "WTF is up with this guy?" when I was fighting him. Pretty much that whole soundtrack was awesome though, hard to pick one :)
December 13th, 2006

Culex. What Cecil could have been had he stuck with Dark Knight.
December 14th, 2006
(0)
Oh, you mean a bad version of the whupass boss music from FFIV?
December 14th, 2006
(0)
Oh, and to you guys who think this is wrong, this music is in this game. Its an adulterated version of what's in FFIV.
December 15th, 2006
(0)
The overall melody of the tune is the same as the FF boss music. But i always loved this track, over the FF version (i have played both), it has its own twist that just rocks a bit harder.
January 13th, 2007

i remember that fight and yes that version of the song is from super mario rpg. download both games and youl see that this version is not the same as on ff2 and 4, god damn really dont complain about something as simple as an origin that you dont agree with. But yup i remember tearing culex apart with mario with super suit attack scarf and the lazy shell.

SMRPG for the win.
