btw, it's written "4/4" not a ratio, speaking isn't in any particular rhythm, and like you said "2 here 3 there" there is no difference in fitting "2/4 speaking" into 4/4 because it would work out perfect, even if you could say the sound clips were in a "

speaking does have a time signature when you enter it as an event. it becomes a beat, and like all beats you want to sync it with everything else. when you listen to song you'll notice they usually repeat a line/verse/chorus 2 times or 4 times in a row, f

in a row, for mathematical repetition that makes a song sound good. if you dont have this in your song, the flow seems off and it doesnt work. In your case, vocal events repreat sometimes 2 times, sometimes 3 and it doesnt really flow, if you can understa

can understand, because there is no consistancy. it'd be easier to show you with an example, but i'm sure when you listen to any kind of good mix from now on, you'll notice the signifigance of the 2 reps or 4 reps, or whatever the timing is in the song.

as a general kind of rule of thumb, you can assume that for vocal cues, each syllable is about a beat, that might help you sync things up better
