It was Billie Eilish’s second time on the Met Gala red carpet, but she made sure her sequel look was just as much a standout as the first. Putting her own spin on the gilded glamour dress code, the superstar opted for a regal Gucci look by Alessandro Michele that was made entirely with upcycled materials.
Eilish wore a custom Gucci ivory and duchesse satin corseted gown, complete with a green lace underlay and gathered ivory skirt—and a padded bustle, of course. For Eilish, it was important for her look to be sustainable this year. “I just wanted to be as eco-friendly as possible,” Eilish said during the Vogue livestream. The look was filled with whimsical detailing, too. The train featured a cascading floral arrangement, and on the bust was a tonal corsage. She completed her look with a black choker with scalloped embroidery, and beige platform shoes made from vegan materials.
Eilish is no stranger to bringing a strong silhouette to the Met Gala. Last year, she channeled Old Hollywood glamour—and Marilyn Monroe!—in a peachy Oscar de la Renta gown, which was complete with a long, sweeping train that commanded the paparazzi. But her thoughtful approach to eco fashion this evening, which still fell in line with the theme, secured her yet another Met Gala win.
