I've been looking back at my older stuff, and I remember at one point I had posted a site called "At this point, I am not even trying anymore". That's pretty much the truth: I don't have the discipline, the drive, or the ability to make anything more than this kind of stuff anymore. YTMND is still a fun place to visit now and then, but I can't be bothered contributing anything meaningful anymore. I've got about 3 or 4 ideas for sites I'd like to make that aren't just deconstructionist/random image and sound sites, but I can't really be inclined to actually put in effort anymore. Ah well. Maybe someday.
!!!
and yeah, i certainly understand your take(s) on:
Comments (especially mine)
and
Site Making / Effort Put Forth when it comes to Site Making.
alright, i'm apologizing in advance for trying too hard with all these comments.
it's late and i'm having fun, fuck you.
for sites and as far as i go with 'em, i cant really try harder than making things that, like, combine fad/internet kitty/mik3m "remix" (or whatever he calls them).
see [site productionvalue:site]
here, we have an example where site making and comments are combined, with me using a comment to plug my new site that got over 100 votes.
i fucking love comments. they're funny/fun. i've spent hours and hours of my life searching around ytmnd for funny-ass comment threads, and there are plenty to find because there are plenty of 'em! it's exactly what you said. let me think, i can't always remember things exactly, but i believe i can be quoted with making the astute observation,
"I love these comments. They make obligatory sites like this with little to no real value into something memorable and fun."
-ytmnd user Lickitwellhiem
seriously, some of these fucking comments are the true hidden gems of ytmnd.
ooooooo! at one point, i went around searching sites from like 05-08 and i would write paragraphs worth of funny short stories and anecdotes that had nothing to do with the sites or any comments on them. i just wanted to make secret things to find on the chance that MAYBE one person will find them some day...
i really suggest doing this.
it feels good.
