RIP my iPod Photo (2005-2005)
Created on: October 6th, 2011
I bought my first and only iPod in June 2005. I loved it! I used it everyday on the way to school. Let's say I used it for 20-40 minutes a day. On December 2005 the hard drive failed and I had to ship it back for a replacement. I got a refusbished one in 2 weeks. And it died 6 months later. It turns out the Toshiba hard drives used for the iPod Photo are defective and tend to break down very easily, even if you treat the iPod good (for example, you don't drop it). The only way to remporarily restore the player is by giving it a firm smack on the side, the "stuck" hard drive realigns itself and at least you can copy your stuff back to your computer. That was my first experience with an Apple product, and hopefully my last. I paid 340 Euros for it (a little more than 400$), all my money at that time. Now I have a Creative Zen Stone, 2GB, it smells like shit but at least it works perfectly since July 2007!

Consider also that I pay much more than what people in the USA pay for the same product, because of taxes and duties. I wish I could go to the US and buy a Mac, spending 500$ less than what I would here in Italy :/
Actually I'm planning to buy a new MP3 player. I'm thinking about an Iriver E300 (because I don't need a lot of options and they say it sounds good, also it's kinda cute), the new Sony with the touchscrceen or the new iPod touch (if it gets a Wolfson chip again, the Cirrus audio chip makes everything sound tinny).
