Max, please remove the laggy ads
If you agree, drop a comment! YTMND should make up the money from these ads somewhere else.

I prefer ads smushed into something else, but not the ytmnd's themselves.

boo ads!!!!!!!

I block the ads myself, but for those who wouldn't have the opportunity to do that, it is a good idea to remove it or somehow have it load after the site itself has loaded.

I hate ad.yieldmanager.com with a passion

Yeah, if ad's are necessary slide them elsewhere. Just not in the actual YTMND.

You get a 1 because you should be using Adblock Plus anyway, fool.

Dalton is right. It's only going to get worse. The ads will be displayed in the preloader while your sites are loading.

Learn how much website hosting costs, and then get back to us, retard. Unless of course you think it's free, and Max is just making advertisements for fun.

that song is horrible, sounds like a blatant rip off of 'sexual healing' except sung by a man with no soul.

I don't care that the ads are there, I just don't like the epic slowdown because of them.
April 5th, 2007

I agree 100%

Ads are of course an important part to this site, because donations from users simply aren't enough to keep it running. Although it would be nice if the ads were to load AFTER the image and sound.
April 5th, 2007

Fived for truth, great justice, and the YTMND way. If it weren't for those ads just about every site would load under one whole fcking second. If not GODDAMN INSTANTLY! :(
(0)
I'd rather the wait on the preloader than popups.

THANK YOU! i totally agree. ads elsewhere are fine, but on the sites themselves compromises the ytmnd

I am sorry...but this site gets a 1....i have a crap dell 1.8GHz P4 and 256MB RAM...and it lags just a bit but not enough to bother me...try defragging ur hard drive and removing spyware and crap like that...it should speed up ur PC...Max spends a lot of money to support YTMND for our enjoyment and with the help of these ads, YTMND is possible...
April 5th, 2007
(1)
It's not reliant on your PC... ffs it's the connecting to the ad domains and retrieving the ads from them that is holding it up dumbasss.
April 5th, 2007

YESSSSSSSSSS. This sh*t has been hanging up the site now for weeks. ad.yieldmanager.com has the *ss of teh internet style servers and it makes load times the gayest thing this side of the world. It's f*cking lame.
April 5th, 2007
(0)
The better solution would be to find better ad hosting. The ad placement is fine and until recently it was all fine but if Max subscribes to a certain ad service and they are getting too much traffic and not spending any money on upkeep on their own servers then we feel the effect because the page won't load until the ad is placed and if you are stuck in a damn que trying to retrieve the ad then you get what we have been experiencing lately. sh*tty load times.
April 5th, 2007
(0)
lol, wat is adblock? gg.
April 5th, 2007
(0)
Adblock doesn't prevent loading of ads, only the display of them. Also, you're an *ssh*le if your adblock setup isn't whitelisting YTMND.

yea stop making money max every1 knows ytmnd doesn't cost money to upkeep... stop f*ckin bitching asshat

This is a somewhat new issue. It was mainly due to the fact that IE crashes when you try to edit elements before a page load is finished. Quick loading is important for YTMNDs, but not as important as staying afloat. I've noticed that with certain ads pages never load, this is obviously not acceptable.
April 5th, 2007
(11)
In summary, it's currently necessary to have the preloader function properly, and hopefully in the near future that won't be the case. The fact that ads are required to load before the preloader loads was a side effect of a long standing IE bug that was being fixed, but at the moment it's a necessary evil.
April 5th, 2007
(12)
Monetizing the actual YTMNDs has always been a huge pain, since I implemented the code the money YTMND earns from these pages has almost doubled, but due to it being so little to begin with, this is only a temporary solution. One thing I'm working on are ads built directly into the preloader, so you are only shown ads when the site is loading anyway.
April 5th, 2007
(12)
It's also worth mentioning that this will only be an issue on unmoderated and NSFW domains, whose numbers should decrease immensely once the mod panel is finished, because AdSense loads almost instantly. It's the mediocre ads that have long load times.

Thanks for your thorough response, max. I really appreciate it, and I'm happy to hear this problem is temporary.

also, in firefox at least, you can just hit esc/stop if an ad is causing slowdowns.

How bout no ads for people that sponsored $35-50 dollars?
April 6th, 2007
(0)
Saying that cause im about to donate $35 to a ytmnd.
April 7th, 2007
(-1)
I really depends on costs. If, perhaps, Max gets a good increase of 10 dollars per site from Ads, if someone donates 11 dollars he could allow for no ads. But it's really up to him.
April 7th, 2007

no ads for people who donate 36 dollars. take that shoover

-3 for John Mayer
April 5th, 2007

Full agreement on this, I noticed the YTMNDs with preloaders had almost a fourfold increase in loading time, if not longer.
April 5th, 2007
(0)
Change the music to ditch downvoters. 5 either way for me.
(0)
no, quick loading YTMNDs are not important, paying for the server is important.

what adS?
April 6th, 2007
(0)
Yeah that's a problem...sometimes, I just hit the stop button and the flash/sync sites load up. Easy for me. Have a problem with the music unfortunately even though it works here.
April 6th, 2007

you will encounter many ads in this lifetime. Better get used to it.

Its funny, I didn't even notice till now, since this ytmnd took a while to load... yes.. I think we could have these ads removed and still maintain with ones on the main site.

wow I liked that song til I knew it was john mayer :/

Yes, please.
April 6th, 2007

Any time I hear john mayer I wanna go john belushi in Animal house with an acoustic guitar. Unfortunately for you, since you've decided to use this music, this ytmnd is that guitar. And I dont have a wall, but i do have a mouse and a one-star.
April 6th, 2007

April 6th, 2007

I have a great idea. How about, if you want to post a site with no ad, then you pay a minimum set fee, and your refresh time will be faster.
April 6th, 2007
(0)
I understand that max has to pay the bills, and I don't mind the ads being there. Perhaps he could change it so the ytmnd loads before the ads?
April 6th, 2007
(0)
That's why you get Firefox and then Adblock.

April 7th, 2007

Here's my dilema, you see, I love YTMND. However, I'm too much of a cheap bastard to donate, this is the prime reason why I don't complain about ad's. It's also the reason I don't use nice ad blocking software, because these ad's make YTMND money. The problem with doing this, however, is that fact that every time one loads a YTMND, the ad's load. And since the ad servers suck hairy monkey balls, it slows my viewing of awesome YTMND content.
April 7th, 2007
(0)
Nobody is complaining about having to view ad's, we're complaing about having to view ad's on sh*tty servers that slow us down. This is bad, for us, and YTMND.
April 7th, 2007
(0)
ytmnd needs to make $$. Where do you propose the ads go to make up the lost revenue from removing them?
April 7th, 2007
(0)
Since you're a retard, I'm going to break it down for you. Slowly. You see, nobody is complaining about ads in general, what people are complaining about are ads that make loading every YTMND like you're loading from a proxy in a bangkok hooker's ass.
April 7th, 2007
