this is a little scary, but im think'n its something like the bee, halo 2 thing.

Mr. Acidrainman, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent report were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone at this site is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. NEDM

June 29th, 2006

Yeah, wondering if it's an ilovebees sorta thing. Also, bad font to use, I know from personal experience. Sweet looking,b ut the lack of apostrophes in it really hurts you.
June 29th, 2006

You have attempted to access a restricted area (S53:A). This action has been recorded

Its when SkyNET becomes self aware. Pay no mind.

Fixed the font and added apostrophes and commas. Abbadon didn't support them and I had to substitute with abberation, but now it uses Lucida console. All is well.

I don't think its really anything, but im freaking scared anyway. I aint going to that site. I'm scared it'll like, put a cookie on my computer that on the last day calls home and downloads a virus or something like that.

If you go to the bottom of the mainscreen and highlight, there is hidden letters and numbers there
June 29th, 2006

The numbers and letters and letters change every time you refresh too...
June 29th, 2006

Yes, it is quite an unnerving site, assuming that something may happen. Be sure to raise the awareness and tell all of your friends and show them this. It's pretty unknown to the net at the moment, but I know YTMND has the power to change that. This website is generally only appearing in forums on google right now.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
I was considering crying out "Viral Advertisement!" like Koompa said, but the thing about that is, if that was the case, we would have heard of this much earlier. Not 2 days before whatever the event is. I'm not ruling out the possibility of a stupid corporate marketing strategy. But I will say this; I enjoy my peaceful days, as any sane human being should, and I don't hope for this to be some horrendous massive netattack.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Fived for higher awareness. If it's viral advertising, it's one heck of an ilovebees.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Get this to the top, it's interesting whether it's fake or not. It's probably just a clever scheme to see how many hits the site can get before that time. Ether way, interesting.

Why do you get so many views for a talking about MY countdown to the destruction of our fragile society?
June 29th, 2006

where do you find the referrer list?
June 29th, 2006

aha, nice find

WE MUST STOP THESE BASTARDS!!!...but how?
June 29th, 2006

its either a very big hoax or an organised group of individuials, probaly very computer literate. Someone should put forward the idea of DDoS to the site an hour or two before the countdown ends.
June 29th, 2006

Deploy thing = locations of active connecton to the site? With the map simply being marked by your IP address?
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Tell everyone. Show all of your friends and everyone you know this YTMND. If we put our heads together, someone is bound to break through and find out something. Also, I have edited a part where I labeled the codes on the forum as Hexidecimal. It was 1am and I did not notice that G and H were in the code, clearly not Hex. However, the codes on the deployment tracker are hexidecimal.

how did u even figure out this site?
June 29th, 2006
(0)
I think from my limited knowledge (I've never heard of this) I think it's 99% just going to be an advertisement for some game system or video game.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
A friend sent me a link on MSN saying: "Hey, you're a nerd aren't you? tell me what this means 'www.eon8.com'" this led to us looking further into it and last night I created the YTMND to raise awareness.

if this is anything real, i'll suck my own dick. it's a f*ckin' advert or campaign or something lame. note acidrainman's aggressive promotion "tell everyone" etc.

I'm to make a website with nothing but a countdown and a bunch of random letters on it, and I'm going to see what crazy theories form. It'll be hilarious to watch.

Fun facts: eon8 is based in Dallas, Texas. Their webhost deals solely with BUSINESSES. Suspense ruined
June 29th, 2006
(0)
It's all crap, if it was some hacking thing, it would be a lot less conspicuous, like some random private forum or something. It's all designed and it's an advertizement. Hackers are too lazy to do anything like this. Some company just created a site and did whatever they could think of to make it look suspicious and official.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
If you hadn't said "Show all your friends" i would have looked at the site. Virus Advertising = LOSE
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Phoney. The countdown skips forword and backward in time depending on where you access it. I got 2 computers and the times don't match on the site.
June 29th, 2006

This YTMND has given me the urge to go play Uplink

(0)
Interesting, tomorrow, 12:00 midnight. I'll be waiting.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Try changing your local computer time, the time show on the site will shift automaticly, if this really was meant as a world wide countdown, they would have used only one global clock.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
don't be such a paranoid pansy, its just a marketing campaign for a game or movie or something. Hell it could even be a new show on nickelodeon
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Faketty fake fake.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
I'm not sure why you say I'm paranoid. I've stated that it could be anything. My personal thoughts are that it is either a hoax/ad campaign like most of you say, or some virus attack. I most certainly am not taking this seriously enough to think that this is is something that needs a swat team to bust into the hosting companies buildings and unload 4 rounds into the server computer. I just thought it was something interesting and created a YTMND to show the many facets of issue. Nobody likes downvoters.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
But being paranoid is fun. I'd love to see where this goes, and I cross my fingers hoping it's something exciting. Considering "launch locations" it's not just a show or game. probably a store chain or.. something. anyway, i'd like to bring attention to the hidden lines of extra text at the foot of the homepage. if you press ctrl+A, you'll see it.

"Try changing your local computer time, the time show on the site will shift automaticly, if this really was meant as a world wide countdown, they would have used only one global clock." It is counting down to a exact time in your region. But basically it could be they are lazy or its a cascading effect per timezone.

http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/index.html I hope that it's just a Defcon promo, but who knows.

OMG A TRACKER DOT WAS ADDED ON THE CITY OF QUEBEC A FEW MINUTES AFTER I WENT ON THE SITE, IT WASN'T THERE BEFORE. I believe that by spreading awareness, you're spreading the virus.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
That is not true. I have visited the site many times and no dot has appeared on my location.

Hmm, eon8 sounds like it's referring to "The Eighth Eon" (which is the end of the world).
June 29th, 2006
(0)
The code is scambled data only really viewable through an authorized program. And yes it's a virus. No it can not spread through viewing the site as of yet. The dots can represent A PC,A house, persons gadgets, town, city, state. Have fun.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
fake
June 29th, 2006
(0)
A joke going off Vash's YTMND, Ebaums must be using planning an attack. All of the dots represent major YTMND user locations. The government links are on the referral list because Eric's legal team contacted them and bribed them to let it go down, involving the exchange of links to the site which got it added.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
it's counting to july 1st var launch=new Date('00:00:00 July 01, 2006');
June 29th, 2006
(0)
but it changes every time
June 29th, 2006
(0)
anyone get a virus?
June 29th, 2006
(0)
So far the clock has been constant for me. It will only change if you mess with your computers clock. If you want an accurate 'launch' time for your region, set your clock to the correct time. I believe though, that since the server is based in Texas, it might also be a good idea to have your time set to GMT - 6. We will see what happens on July 1.

By the way, I broke it so the countdown would happen 30 seconds from about 2 minutes ago. What happens is the page refreshes and the countdown starts over. Oh no
June 29th, 2006
(0)
this actually scares me a little... we should at least spread the word about this. i didn't take this seriously, tell the government investigation. now i'm freaked out.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Yeah its definately tracking, not random, I went on and it put a mark where I live, lets get some Russian people to get on, it would really screw up the thing, maber someone go on it from every corner of the globe, even the ocean, that would make the whole map red, strange you dont see dots from wireless people out on the ocean though.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
"By the way, I broke it so the countdown would happen 30 seconds from about 2 minutes ago. What happens is the page refreshes and the countdown starts over. Oh no" PRECISELY. I did the same thing. It's a pretty good prank though.

m'kay, i'm in central, and the timer i got is going to hit zero friday at 11pm. i think the time changes because of time zones. one of your comps probably got pinged around and ended looking like it came through a different time zone ip. this is to the people saying different times.

I have know Idea what it is but if it were somthing dangerous..If YTMND knows about it, then the government would have to know about it and shut it down.So it must be a countdown to something like a hacker convention or a game or something. But we probly don't have to worry.

ok, now i am REALLY scared. i was just in a thread that got sidetracked onto eon8, AND THE THREAD IS GONE. JUST GONE. I TRIED TO QUICK POST, AND I GOT A LITTLE BOX SAYING "INVALID THREAD" WTF??? I AM REALLY GETTING SCARED.

The dunce locus of Drosophila melanogaster is considered to house a gene involved in memory, because flies carrying lesions at the locus have shortened memory of several different conditioned behaviours.
June 29th, 2006

That is one of the first thing I got when I Googled "X13600". Evidently it's one of the genes related to memory storage...or something. Scary stuffs.

i'm willing to bet anything its NEDM related

or perhaps its another name for skynet, like a advertising campaign for a new terminator movie
June 29th, 2006
(0)
Actually, in their map, they look to have outsmarted themselves. I grabbed sattelite photographs of their Northern Siberian dot and there's absolutely nothing there but a mountain range. Not even a field. It's quite near the most desolate area on Earth - at the most, maybe 500 people live under that big old dot.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
I woulda 1'd it but it was very creepy. Prolly an ad campain. You mention the dots are all around highly populated areas. Mabye a biological attack? Or some inventive company's kick off to an ad campain.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
So therefore the probability that someone would be accessing from what may be what could be honsetly called the 'middle of nowhere' and not from, say, the province of Saskatchewan or a few U.S. states or any of the other places in the world with plenty of Internet access is just plain absurd.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
It's an Alternate Reality Game, most likely. Just like ILoveBees, the Halo 2 advertising ARG, and The Hanso Foundation, the Lost ARG. Try cconverting those long codes to base 64 or base 16. the guysa a 4815162342.com know how it works, Look in the ARG section
June 29th, 2006

I feel like I've seen this site before, like years ago. how long as the timer been going?
June 29th, 2006
(0)
"What's more, the server for this site is based outta Dallas, TX. And that 'distribution' thing is an animated gif. :P" Wrong, what's interesting is that when you save the picture of the world map with the dots on it to your desktop, the dots don't appear anymore. It's not an animated gif... That's really strange..
June 29th, 2006
(0)
They outsmarted themselves on their map. They're pointing to an area in North Siberia where there is pretty much no human habitation - I took a look on Google Earth, and it's just marshes and mountains.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
the timer has been going for at least 150ish days

"Wrong, what's interesting is that when you save the picture of the world map with the dots on it to your desktop, the dots don't appear anymore. It's not an animated gif... That's really strange.." Ah, I see what they did now. The dots are seperate GIF files.

June 29th, 2006

Probably viral advertising, yet the military referall blocks are suspicious.
June 29th, 2006

Interesting. Although I do believe its going to be a hoax or viral marketing. They give out just enough information to make you interested and give you links to "secured areas" just like many sites.
June 29th, 2006
(0)
There's the odd possibility that they misplaced their dot for Kirbey or Murukta, Russia - but they're so small that you can't even tell there's habitation there on Google Earth.

"On the night of June 29th - June 30th 1934, units of the SS arrested the leaders of the SA and other political opponents. Men such as Gregor Strasser, von Schleicher and von Bredow were arrested and none of them had any connection with Röhm. The arrests carried on for 2 nights. Seventy seven men were executed on charges of treason though historians think the figure is higher." Read Up.

SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE IT! I brought the situation to the Newgrounds BBS to see if someone might have any information on it. Someone did, he managed to do a full scale search on the site and everything. He came up with some pretty good stuff. I linked to the page where his data is. Just scroll down until you see the really long post. http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=515581&page=2

Seems to me like it's a much less sophisticated version of ilovebees. Every piece of code or vagueness on ilovebees had some sort of meaning. It seems like this time they just typed random gibberish instead of making an effort to reward those trying to figure it out.

I just checked out their securiy certificates. They were issued by the website (not hosting company) LAST YEAR on the 28th december, and expire this year, 28th december. I assume one year is the minimum time for these security contracts. They this orchestarted for months..

ILoveBees is ringing so many bell, it's not funny. There are alternate reality games (ARGs; games that try to blur the reality line with blogs and phone lines and such), and this REEKS of it. Even if not, I doubt it's anything malicious.

Also, the date stamp on the Deployment Logs says "29 06 2006." That's day first, then month, then year. That's not usually how the date is written in America.

Interestingly enough, the dots wink in and out on their "deployment map". Perhaps the system merely checks your IP and throws up a dot on the map based on your area? I've yet to test it with 2 computers...
