when the main page refreshes. for most sites that only lasts 20 minutes or so, since everyone gets high expectations and downvotes like crazy... but you get a boost in views, which could make you top 15 depending on the time of day.

I mean, it does pay to try at the 'special time' (wink) but a lot of people do that so its just as likely you'll be on and off the main page in 2 minutes.
