August 12th, 2005

Voldermort: Hagrid never told you what happened to your father. Harry: He told me enough! He told me you killed him. Voldermort: No, I am your father.

August 12th, 2005

Ahaha, that's great.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Um...so? Yes, different stories follow the same models, and the models themselves have been in place for thousands of years. Did you just now figure that out?
August 12th, 2005
(0)
No, Cronos. There is more lore Philospher's Stone than in that stupid anime. Not to mention the fact that it was the "Sorcerer" Stone's ORIGINAL title.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
"All this will be set to a score by John Williams" XDXDXD
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Wow, Jett, you are so smart! See how the guy that made this didn't realize "The Hero's Journey?" Wow good looking out dipsh*t!
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Oh yeah, look at me: I post things cause I think I know more than everyone. It's just a funny ytmnd! YTMNDs have been around for thousands of years, did you just figure that out now?
(0)
This is beyond stupid. The sentences are so vague and impertinent that you could fit any two stories together with that much generality. Hagrid's distinguishing feature is his beard? give me a break.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Oh man Ninjayadda is a genius! He knows more than the internet!
(0)
If the entire population of the internet were "here", they would probably agree with me.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Oh man, I think EVERYTHING on here is unoriginal. I have not seen one idea here that supposedly someone had first. *BTW- what I just said is copyright.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Cronos, you f*cking wap. You know that the Philospher's stone was not created for f*cking Full Metal Alchemist, right? Please tell me you do. The original title was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Tards.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Hey exqva, do me a favor. Take a moment and think, long and hard, about how many times, in the history of mankind, someone has wrote a plot for something.
August 12th, 2005
(0)
Now I want you to think even harder, but don't hurt yourself, ok? Think about how mathematically improbable it is that someone can write a completely original story, that has no similarities to any other story, at all. Think you can do that?
August 12th, 2005

-1 for "Wilderness of Suburbia." -1 for "WISE, bearded Hagrid." -1 for "Hogwart's." -1 for "Darth Vader, whom we know murdered his aunt and uncle." -30,000 for omitting every single unique concept in each work and then acting like it's an am

What does that make you then, Mr. Star Wars and Harry Potter fan?
August 12th, 2005

Man, look at everything everywhere, everything follows the Hero's Journey. I learned about it 5 minutes ago by looking it up on dogpile. Harry Potter is original, Star Wars is unoriginal. The bible and Jesus is a ripoff of Star Wars too. I know more than

August 14th, 2005
(0)
oh, forgot to rate it. right on!
August 14th, 2005
(0)
I agree with the downvoters who are saying that mythical tales do have similar elements so the people who are saying potter was copied from star wars are f*cking idiots. But the YTMND is still fairly original and funny so it gets a 5.
August 16th, 2005
(0)
I like all the dipsh*ts saying "omg she ripped off starwars!". Did you not read the aprt about the HERO'S JOURNEY? Have you f*cking heard of JOSEPH f*ckING CAMPELL? Props to exvqa for not being retarded.

good, better, this!
November 19th, 2005

Kind of funny. I assume that Cronos is just being a troll, but I'll repeat that the Philosopher's Stone from the first HP and FMA are based on the same myth. It was only Sorcerer's Stone in one country.
November 24th, 2005
(0)
Everything nowadays follows the heroes journy.. So i'm not surprised.
November 30th, 2005

Harry Potter ripped off Star Wars! NOOOOOOOOO YOU BITCH!
May 22nd, 2006
(0)
Actually, the book is called "HP and the Philosopher's Stone" in England. Star Wars has its uneditted versions, CSS has CS 1.6, and Harry Potter has the British version. It's just the way the major fans like it. Very nice comparison.

July 6th, 2006
(0)
lol, it's friggin true, awseome
July 11th, 2006
(0)
Felt too "set up". The whole thing at the last half tried too much to connect the plots together, mostly because the whole dqueditch was only part of the story, while it's the forces of evil which is the other and the Star Wars plot is just 1 straight thing.
July 13th, 2006

Almost there. Aunt and Uncle do not equal Parents, otherwise this would be a 100% perfect fit! It's still awesome, though.
August 12th, 2006

I thought there was some study saying there are 32 basic story themes. This nails the 2 plots to a T.
August 16th, 2006

Harry Potter ripped off Star Wars...sad.

September 25th, 2006
(0)
Funny, I was just thinking of that while watching Star Wars today.
September 26th, 2006
(0)
the similarities are not that great, you crossed off a lot of detail there. You basically equated darth's death star to lord voldemort's quittage match among other far reaching lines.

There are only about 10 different plots and they were all done in Greek plays 2000+ years ago
